I have no idea where to search. I have looked on craigslist.org and there aren’t very many listings, although I am sure there are tons of single family homes for rent. Where do I search?

Go to www.realtor.com, and click on the tab at the top that says leasing or rentals, or something like that.

That will give you access to all the properties that are listed with the MLS in your area. You can search by zip, etc.
