How to look for a rental home long distance?

April 272011

I’ve been looking at craigslist for the area I’m moving to, but there are so many scams on there it seems unreliable. The local news paper doesn’t have online listings for rentals and I don’t have access to the hard copy in a timely fashion (usually takes 3-4 days for shipping to my current location). Are there other resources where landlords advertize their rentals online?

I’m will to pay a small membership fee for a website or house hunter, not more than $100 total, though.

Property management companies manage homes for rent. Contact several of them and see what they have available.

Home rental/House rental website that contains multiple listings…?

April 252011

Alright I used to look at a website that had compiled listings from craigslist, hotpads, olx, move and other local rental agencies in one website. Does anyone know what that website is? I am moving again and I dont want to only rely on craigslist, but I have no idea what the name of the other website was.

Thanks in advance.

What is a Public Auction Tax Sale?

April 232011

A friend of mine is trying to get me to invest in a Public Auction Tax Sale in Riverside County, CA. There are listings for homes that start from $200 – and up for bid. What is the catch here? Can it be profitable? Is it possible to own a home for that little?

Simply tax sales are public auctions where properties are sold, on the spot, to the highest bidder. townships and municipalities………

Can I sue my real estate agent?

April 212011

My grandparents are selling their house.
1) the real estate agent (who is also an investor) told my them they couldn’t sell their house for what they wanted. The other houses next door (literally) are going for 245,500-300,000 and my grandparents wanted to sell for 225,000. He said that no one will pay that price given the economy,. We def know different. We know the people in the neighborhood.
2) my grandparents settled to sell their house for 199,000. They lowered it for 1 couple to 195,000. Then we go see on his (Realtor) website later (months) that he changed the price of the house to $195,000, and we also saw this on other websites with current home listings for sale.

can we sue him for lowering it without notification, or is he entitled to do that once we go down on price for someone. Obviously the house is still up for sale; and I am wondering what we can do.
He seems a little shady to us, this is their first house they are selling.
All of the appliances are up-to-date sheesh…better than mines. They have the money for it all. So when i do say my grandparents house please dont think they are extremely old with walkers and canes. They are far from that and are in better health (thank god) than a lot of people their age. Their house is pretty modren and the love it.

And the house has had offers in fact tons, but its not what they want. They are going to take if off the market and might just end up passing it to a grandchild right now. But It’s in a great part of town less than 5 minutes away from the downtown Austin scene.

Well obviously I CAN’T SUE its my grandparents. I am just trying to see if there is anything there or just get a new agent or take it off the market.

but thanks everyone for the help i def appreciate it

As with any legal case, you need to be able to prove your position. While I agree it does sound like the Realtor did keep your grandparents best interests in mind, you may have a hard time proving that in court. But yes to answer your question, you can sue your Realtor.

April 162011

Looking specifically for the Los Angeles area.

Your real estate agent gets a weekly list
Your title company gets a weekly list
Any homes that are for sale with an MLS number are listed on http://www.realtor.com . Realtor.com often lists foreclsoed homes as such.

the yahoo tv listings… where did it go and how much longer for the new?

April 142011

i had it on my home page and now it just say’s there will be a new version soon.. they should of left the old up till the new one was ready..

Yahoo has apparently embarked on an aggressive campaign to drive customers away. This "improvement" in their service should greatly assist in achieving that goal.

Has the quality of pics in the real estate listings in your area gone down?

April 92011

I’ve noticed pics with towels in the bathroom strewn about, dishes in the dishrack, unkempt laundry rooms… I thought pics were supposed to showcase the home and be flattering.

Lots of new agencies on the market and I’m noticing a trend.

not around here they are all to showcase the home that sounds bad

Where can I find free listings of foreclosed homes without all the 7 day trials and memberships?

April 72011

All I want is to see foreclosures without having to go through ten million preliminaries. Can anyone help?

Tax Lein certificate is where it’s at! You find them on the Auditors site of the county where the house is located. When the houses are auctioned off you get them for the taxes owed or less. My husband told me, "No more F words" (forclosure)… I told him it’s the TLC he needs to worry about. We bought 1 forclosed house for $10,000, and 2 TLC houses… one for $1200 and the other for $3500. It’s awesome, so long as you are on the buying end, not the losing your house end.
